School Board Taps Compoli, Koop as Leaders

Washington Township K-8 governing body swears in three members.

Cathleen Compoli, the Washington Township School Board's former vice president, was chosen by her fellow board members to take over as the governing body's president, according to the district.

Compoli, whose term expires this year, takes over for Michael Rec, who did not seek re-election to the board in 2012.

Board member Kathleen Koop, whose term also expires this year, was chosen by the group to serve as the vice president for the new year.

At its annual reorganization meeting, the district swore in Perry Kwok and Kristin Gallagher, who both ran unopposed in their election bids in 2012. This is Kwok's second three-year term and Gallagher's first successful election after being appointed in July of 2011.

Township resident Michael St. Jacques, who received enough write-in votes in the November election to win a vacant, three-year seat, was also sworn in by the district.
