Young Artists' Works Garner Local, County Accolades

'Reflections' contest names six winners; four go on to state-level competition.

The future is bright for students at Flocktown-Kossmann School, and nothing emphasizes that more than the recent artistry exhibited by so many pupils there.

Just before the winter break, the school held its Annual Giving Tree Ceremony where the winners of the fall 2013 Reflections Achievement in the Arts Program were announced.

Flocktown’s Avery Schwartz won for visual arts; Caitryn Tronoski won for music composition; and Gabriella Nowak took the top prize for dance choreography.

Kossmann students showed just as much talent as Madeleine Antonov won in the literature category; Julia Davo won for photography; and Natalia Wolinski won in visual arts.

While the winners received gift cards and certificates of merit, it was the next accolade that brought the most excitement. Davo, Nowak, Tronoski, and Wolinski all advanced to the Morris County PTA Reflections competition and won prizes. Their works have now advanced to the state PTA competition with potential to advance to the national contest.

The winning works will be displayed during Flocktown-Kossmann’s Arts Alive celebration in April.
