Boys' Swim Team Evens Record to Start 2012

Girls fall against Hanover Park.

The West Morris Central Boys Swim Team started the new year with a win against Hanover Park on Jan. 3 at Morristown High School. The score was 105-62. The Boys are now 2-2 for the season.   

Picking up two wins apiece were Junior Devon Holm (200 IM, 100 Butterfly), and Sophomores Michael Schommer (200 Free, 400 Free) and Aaron Vinh (50 Free, 100 Free). Matt Donnelly won the 100 Breaststroke and picked up a second place in the 200 IM. Sophomore Troy Antonucci won the 100 Backstroke.

The Medley Relay (Donnelly, Antonucci, Gruby, Holm) and the 400 Free Relay (Tamburrino, Gruby, Schommer, Donnelly) also finished in first.

Andrew Tamburrino finished second in the 400 Freestyle and third in the 50 Freestyle. Mario Bracero (200 Free), and Ray Waters (100 Free) each picked up a third place finish.  Helping out in the Relays were Ryan Vinh, Austin Farnsworth, Chris Meyler, and Billy Teagarten.

The Girls Swim team had a tougher time against Hanover Park losing 107-63.  Senior Katie Papa picked up two first place wins in the 200 IM and 400 Free.  Paige Stricker won the 200 Freestyle, and placed second in the 400 Freestyle.  The 400 Free Relay (Stricker, Schmitt, Laden, Papa) also took a first place.

Jessica Chu picked up a second (100 Backstroke) and third place finish (50 Free). Ellysa Lamperti (100 Free) and Rachel Schmitt (100 Breaststroke) each picked up a third place finish. 

Adding valuable points in the relays were Molly Shannon and Shannon Dagon.

The Girls are now 1-3 for the season. Both teams will be back in the pool facing Parsippany Hills on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 5:30 p.m. at Morristown High School.
