Central Fencers Dominate at County Championships

Boys put two on podium in foil competition; girls epee sees two in top four placement.

There were more than 200 male and female fencers at Randolph High School Saturday, Jan. 18 for the Morris County Fencing Championships.

And only a handful could claim the top spots in their respective categories.

For the West Morris Central Wolfpack competitors, their time was now.

Overall, the boys team took home third place, but the foil squad of Andrew Mange, Terry Peters, and Daley Mauldin won the event championship.

All three are juniors and made it into the individual championship round to compete against a pool of six individuals. A four-way tie led to a fence-off, which included Mange and Peters. Mange went undefeated in the fence-off, winning the boys foil championship, while Peters reached the podium with a third-place finish.
