Central Fencers Split Dual Meet to Chatham

Boys handed first loss of season.

An exciting third round to clinch victory and a first-of-the-season loss marked the West Morris Central fencing team's match against the Chatham Cougars this week.

Taking them down from the undefeated ranks, Chatham beat the boys' fencing team Tuesday night by a score of 18-9, giving the Highlanders their first loss of the season.

On the other side, though, the girls' team pulled out a big win over Chatham, 15-12, improving their record to 3-1.

The girls clinched the victory with a third round win in Epee by Junior Stephanie Egleston. Senior Ally Ray, along with Egleston, went undefeated in three rounds in the category.

Juniors Erin Dietsche and Anastasia Enriquez also went undefeated in all three rounds for foil.

Up next for both teams is the third annual Morris County Tournament at Randolph High School.
