Central Girls LAX Shoots Down Morristown, Heads to Tourney Semifinals

Girls lacrosse team will face top-seed Mountain Lakes in Thursday game.

The West Morris Central girls lacrosse team took one step closer to a berth in the Morris County Tournament finals Tuesday afternoon, narrowly beating Morristown while defending home field advantage.

Central, seeded No. 4 in the tournament, ousted the No. 5 Colonials by a score of 14-12, according to nj.com. West Morris went into the break up 7-4 and held off an 8-7 second half charge by Morristown for the two-goal win.

Central was led by Sarah Frankovic and Mackenzie Metzler with four goals apiece, the report said.

The team will face off Thursday in the tournament’s semifinals against top-seeded Mountain Lakes, who disposed of Montville by a score of 17-5. Mountain Lakes is currently ranked third in the state by the Star Ledger.

On the other side of the semifinals Chatham will head to Mendham as the No. 3 seed takes on the No. 2 seed, respectively.
