Lady Highlanders Shoot for Group Title Sunday

West Morris Central advances to first-ever group title game after semifinal win Thursday night.

One way or another, the season will end Sunday for West Morris Central's Lady Highlanders basketball team.

But for the first time in school history, it could end with a Group 3 championship trophy.

Central edged its semifinal opponent, Northern Highlands, by just four points Thursday night at Ramapo, 67-63, behind senior Brielle Kelly's career-high 38 points, according to nj.com.

The win gave Central the right to play for the Group 3 championship in Toms River against Camden Wilson at Pine Belt Arena.

The semifinal round saw five lead changes in the first half, then Kelly scoring all of the team's third quarter points – 22 of her total – before pulling ahead for good in the fourth, the report said.

Paige Burton added 13 points and Kendall Ballotti had nine rebounds.

Tip-off Sunday is set for 6 p.m.
