'Pack Controls Clock, Stifles Knolls in Opener

West Morris Central starts season 1-0.

There’s no better way to describe it than old school Wolfpack Football.

The  campaign in style Saturday afternoon, running away from Morris Knolls, 34-7.

While the score may seem lopsided, it was just part of the tale, as the blue and white controlled the clock for more than 36 of the game’s 48 minutes, rarely giving the team from Rockaway a chance to fight.

The Wolfpack amassed four scores by running the ball, in addition to a 40-yard strike from senior captain quarterback John Gutowski to sophomore running back Stephen McDonough.

In the true sense of the word team, the Wolfpack spread the ball around, as five different players scored on the day.

Adam Caruso, Austin Roland, Kevin Hennelly, and Gutowski all ran for scores on the day, with the Gutowski to McDonough connection mixed in.

The game wasn’t all offense, of course, as the defensive did its part, allowing just one scoring play.

Morris Knolls connected on a pass play to open the second half, but that would be the only time the team neared the end zone.

The Wolfpack hosts the Randolph Rams on Friday, Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. at
