Fans of the West Morris Central Swim team had their wish fulfilled when their team swam against Parsippany High School on January 8. Both boys and girls team won big. This was the second consecutive win for the boys and first, for the girls.
The girls pretty much dominated their meet, sweeping all three relay races with Ungemach (SR)/Shannon (SR)/Nugent (FR)/Crowley (FR) taking the 200 meter Medley, Crowley (FR)/Lamperti (SR)/Kowalewski (FR)/Castaneda (FR) winning the 200 meter Free, and Kowalewski (FR)/Armenti (JR)/Lamperti (SR) and Castadena (FR) finishing off with the 400 meter Free.
As for the individual races, the girls did quite well starting with Freshman Kowalewski finishing first in the 200 meter Free. She also went on to take second place in the 400 meter Free. Junior Armenti took second in the 200 meter Free. Freshman Castadena was first in the 200 meter IM and 400 meter Free. Sophomore Evans finished third in the 400 meter Free. Senior Shannon finished second in the 200 meter IM and first in the 100 meter Breast. Sophomore Sciortino took third in the 100 meter Breast.
Freshman Crowley was second in the 50 meter Free but edged out teammate Senior Ungemach for first in the 100 meter Back. Coming in at third in the 100 meter Back was Freshman Liahkim. Senior Lamperti took third in the 50 meter Free but moved up to second place in the 100 meter Free. Freshman Edens was third in the 100 meter Free. Freshmen Nugent and Circelli had a first and third place finish, respectively in the 100 meter Fly. The final scores were Parsippany 39 to Central 120.
Similarly, the boys also won all three relay races with Antonucci (JR)/Donnelly (JR)/Holm (SR)/A. Vinh (JR) winning the 200 meter Medley, Tamburrino (SR)/Waters (SR)/Ambrose (FR)/M. Schommer (JR), the 200 meter Free and Antonucci (JR)/Donnelly (JR)/Holm (SR)/A. Vinh (JR), the 400 meter Free.
The boys also swept the following individual races: 200 meter Free (M. Schommer (JR), Beyerl (JR), and Waters (SR)), 200 meter IM (Ambrose (FR), Holm (SR) and Donnelly (JR)) and 400 meter Free (M. Schommer (JR), Ambrose (FR) and Meyler (JR)).
Junior A. Vinh took first in the 50 meter and 100 meter Free. Junior Antonucci was second in the 50 meter Free but was the first to finish the 100 meter Back. Sophomore R. Vinh took third in the 100 meter Back. Senior Waters finished third in the 100 meter Free. Seniors Holm and Farnsworth were first and third, respectively in the 100 meter Fly. Likewise, Junior Donnelly and Senior Bracero took first and third place, respectively in the 100 meter Breast. The final scores were Parsippany 45 to Central 124.
