WMC Baseball Beats Mendham, Heads to Finals

Pitching gem takes Wolfpack to North 2, Group 3 championship.

The Wolfpack put its stamp on a ticket to the NJSIAA North 2, Group 3 sectional finals Friday, after beating sister-school Mendham Tuesday afternoon by a score of 5-0.

Central’s junior pitcher Mike Feula tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit–which came in the first inning–and two walks, according head coach Dan Wydner. Of the pitcher's 21 outs recorded, 16 came via ground ball, Wydner said.

Senior Connor Young had two hits–including a two-run homerun–and three RBI to pace the ‘Pack.

Mendham’s Chris Murphy grabbed the Minutemen’s only hit of the afternoon and also took a walk. Nick Pedallino and Nick Maguire, hit by a pitch and walked, respectively, were the only other Minutemen to reach base.

West Morris Central, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will face Cranford, the top seed, on Friday at 4 p.m.
