Wolfpack Baseball Dominates Morristown Colonials, 7-1

Pitching, strong defense lead the way.

The West Morris Central Wolfpack baseball team hosted Morris County opponent Morristown Colonials on Wednesday, April 20, and grabbed a victory in front of the home crowd.

IN SHORT

Dominating pitching and solid defense were the keys to a 7-1 victory for the  Wolfpack baseball team over the Colonials of Morristown. The Wolfpack also belted 11 hits, including three doubles and a solo home run. In the top of the third inning, centerfielder Connor Young made a diving catch to his left with bases loaded and only one out. The runner at third did not score. The next Morristown batter struck out.

WOLFPACK OF THE GAME

Mike Feula—Feula pitched 6 scoreless innings, striking out 10 and not allowing any walks. In five innings, Morristown had runners in scoring position and all five times, Feula struck out the last batter to end the threat and the inning.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES

Connor Young hit a solo home run in the fourth inning to put the Wolfpack ahead, 4-0. Connor Smolensky was busy at second, recording four putouts in the game.

“Anytime you get good pitching, it certainly goes a long way,” said Coach Dan Wydner. “Mike was a bulldog on the mound today.”
