Wolfpack Boys' Soccer Drops One to Roxbury

Central gives conference rival first win of season.

The West Morris Central boys soccer team lost to conference rival, Roxbury, 2-1 Tuesday night under the lights at Wolfpack Stadium. It was Roxbury’s first win of the season.

IN SHORT
The Wolfpack let up two goals in the first half and had to play catch-up the entire game. Roxbury’s first goal came seven minutes into the contest. With most of the play in front of the Wolfpack goal, Roxbury’s offense dominated the entire first half. Central came out strong in the second half, scoring at the 36:55 mark when James Greco bent a free kick around a wall of defenders, right past a stunned Roxbury goalie.

WOLFPACK OF THE GAME
Brendan Milik—With most of the game played on the defensive side of the field for the Wolfpack, Milik played a solid game, winning all his challenges and in the second half, took control of the game in the backfield.

OTHER KEY PERFORMANCES
Goalie Scott Bowden—He played a very physical game, making eight saves, three of them direct collisions with Roxbury players.

THEY SAID IT
“We wasted the first half. We did come out playing strong in the second half but it’s tough to make up a two-goal deficit. In the second half they lay back on defense, keeping four guys in the backfield. It was just too much to make up.” – Coach Greg Barkey
