More 'Margaret' Fundraisers Upcoming

Community continues to raise money for Hackettstown girl battling brain tumor.

Area residents and business owners have proven their commitment to help the family of Margaret Walling, a Hackettstown girl battling a brain tumor, and have offered to fundraise through various events next month.

Two already-announced fundraisers, through Village Family Clinic and Thirty-One, have been scheduled to begin in August. But the Smiles for Margaret Foundation has now announced several more fundraisers being planned, including a 5K run.

Walling is a Hackettstown Middle School student battling a brain tumor. She will be entering the seventh grade next year. The local girl has begun chemotherapy treatments after having the tumor removed.

To help her family with medical costs,  The Women of The Moose in Hackettstown will host a tricky tray on Aug. 23 where half of the proceeds will benefit Smiles for Margaret. Doors will open at the Moose Lodge on Main Street at 6 p.m. that day and bundles are currently available for sale and can be obtained by emailing  Trickytray4Margret@yahoo.com or @ Brellie1210@yahoo.com.

A "Hillbilly Hoedown" will be held at Pub 517 on Aug. 3 at 9 p.m., including a hay toss and corn-eating.

Local Avon representative Stephanina Jara is also offering to donate all of her profits for the months of July and August to Walling's foundation.

Though a few months away, plans are already in the works for a "Huff and Puff After You Stuff" 5K Run on Nov. 30, to be hosted by the Tiger Wrestling Club and Smiles for Margaret. The race will take place at the River Park/Alumni Field complex. Business sponsorships are still wanted and can be made by calling  908-763-0777.
