Daddy Daughter Date Night, Sidewalk Talk Ahead This Week

Where do you go for Valentine's Day dinner?

We’re hitting our 2014 stride as the middle of January is upon us. There are few big items going on this week. Let’s take a look.

On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the Washington Township Committee will hold its first work session of the year. The meeting’s agenda is on the lighter side, but includes an ordinance regarding a Highlands Water Usage Tax and discussion items on budget meeting dates and a sidewalk permit extension for East Mill Road.

The meeting is open to the public and begins at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal building.

Hey dads, are you looking for some quality time with that girl you love? Now’s your chance: It’s time for daddy – daughter date night at the Long Valley Pub and Brewery hosted by the Long Valley Junior Women’s Club.

The event is being held Jan. 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. Dads are $30 and each daughter is $20 (under age 12). Go here for more information.

Don’t forget to answer our question of the week! While we’re still a few weeks away from Cupid’s favorite day of the year, we want to know who has the best place around for Valentine’s Day dinner. Let us know by going here.

Have a great week, Washington Township!

When the township committee is discussing the permit for the extension to complete the existing sidewalk, they might consider putting an ordinance in effect requiring that all sidewalks be maintained in the downtown area. The sidewalks near the traffic light are poorly kept. Debris , garbage cans are just a few things that litters those beautiful brick sidewalks. Mostly importantly snow and ice removal. People/school children are forced to walk in the street due to the fact the the sidewalks are not cleared. This is very basic concept. Before more money is spent on this project, there should be an effort made to assure the sidewalks are properly maintained.
