Fireworks Festival Tops Busy Week Ahead

Meeting-filled Monday, event-focused Saturday.

The middle of September may be the busiest week we’ve seen this year. Are you ready for the amount of information we’re about throw at you? Here it comes!

The week kicks off with two major meetings Monday night. At 7 p.m. at West Morris Central High School, the regional school board will meet for its regular session. Superintendent Mackey Pendergrast is going to continue his presentation on the district’s test score and grade data, along with goals for coming years.

At 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Washington Township Municipal Building, the Washington Township Committee will hold its regular session, which includes a resolution to approve an expenditure for a new generator at the Long Valley Fire Company firehouse.

Skipping forward to the end of the week, Washington Township’s biggest annual event is set for Saturday afternoon. The Fireworks Festival and Parade will kick off at 4 p.m. at the corner of Old Farmers Road and East Mill Road, followed by the main event at the Long Valley Middle School. Also on Saturday, RE/MAX Heritage Properties of Chester will host its second annual Run for Heroes event, which raises funds for local police and first aid squad members, as well as for Jersey Cares to support military overseas.
