Officials Reorganize, Holiday Closings Ahead This Week

County-wide First Night celebration kicks off in Morristown Tuesday night.

As if saying goodbye to one year and hello wasn’t enough fun for a week, we’ve got a few notes you need to know in our weekly look ahead column. Let’s get to it!

All municipal buildings (town hall, library, department of public works) are closed Wednesday, Jan. 1 – New Year’s Day – in observance of the holiday.

All local schools are also closed Monday through Wednesday and return to class on Thursday, Jan. 2. The very long winter break is officially coming to an end.

New Year’s Eve offers a great event, as the annual First Night Morris County takes shape in Morristown. To find out more about the mega event, go to Morristown Patch here.

On Saturday, Jan. 4, the annual reorganization meeting of Washington Township will be held at the municipal building in the morning. New committeeman Donald Babb will be sworn in, along with any new firefighters or first aid squad members. Those organizations will also swear in new or incumbent chiefs and officers.

As the new year begins, we want to know what your resolutions are, but not the personal ones. We’re looking for the resolutions you’d like to see attained by your town. Answer our question of the week here.
