Santa's Sleigh Ride Through Long Valley Delayed by Snow

Fairmount Fire Co. says pending storm is putting brakes on annual event until Dec. 21.

Even the guy from the North Pole doesn't want to venture out into this weekend's weather.

Fairmount Fire Co.'s annual escort of Santa Claus through the southern portion of Washington Township has been postponed until Dec. 21 due to an impending storm expecting to bring up to 10 inches of snow to the region.

Santa, riding in one of Fairmount's fire trucks, was expected to visit with children of all ages between 2 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. That's when the heaviest snowfall will come, according to the National Weather Service.

More Snow on the Way: Up to 10 Inches Possible This Weekend

So, Santa will keep himself busy at the North Pole this weekend as Long Valley prepares for its second measurable accumulation this week. He'll be back on Dec. 21 at the same time along the same route, which can be found here.

On that same day, Santa will also be escorted by the Schooley's Mountain Fire Company to visit children in the areas around Pleasant Grove, Flocktown Road and others. More details will be available on that in the coming days.
