Balloon festival, horse shows and more to highlight annual event.

By Ariana Cohn-Sheehan

The Warren County Farmers Fair will host its 76th event beginning Saturday and continue with the 13th annual Hot Air Balloon Festival as well.

The fairgrounds are on Route 517 in Harmony Township and nearly impossible to miss, with attractions, games, and animals that can be seen from miles away throughout the week. Highlights of the fair, which runs through Aug. 3, include pot belly pig shows, a fairy queen and princess competition, hay shows, a BBQ rib cookoff and more.

On July 31, a bicycle balloon race will benefit Adopt a Soldier Platoon and several horse shows will be held beginning on Sunday.

Kids will have opportunities to participate in a variety of activities, including quilt square decorating, veggie-eating challenges, puppet-making, pottery and more. During the balloon festival, daring fair attendees will have the opportunity to hop on a real hot air balloon for a ride (tickets are $195 per person).

Admission to the fair is $6 for adults and $4 for children 5-12. Children under 4 are able to enter the fair for free. Parking is also free for the fair.

For the full fair schedule, visit the fair's website.
