Not Domino April 15, 2014 at 01:50 pm
Sad but true, Clay. With these guys behind bars, others will move in to fill the gap. Where there isRead More big easy money to be made, someone will try to make it. Remove the demand, and the supply will fade away. That's the only way to make a long term change.

What other characteristics did his student possess for a motorists single to him out for carryingRead More his cells phone? Over reaction over a cell phone!!?
Hookerman April 12, 2014 at 08:45 am
Google 'cell phone mistaken for gun', and you'll see it's actually pretty common. Just be thankfulRead More the kid wasn't shot dead as Amadou Diallo was when the cops thought his wallet was a gun.
LV Outdoorsman007 April 12, 2014 at 11:02 pm
I can see a cell phone being mistaken for a small Conceleable weapon like a nano pistol.
The guardrail Melvin Travis allegedly crashed into on Christmas night 2013.

John, your silence is deafening. You first accuse the writer of not giving both sides of the story.Read More You then accuse a Good Samaritan of lying. At least have the guts to tell people your side of the story. It does not mean we will all believe it or not. Just make your case. Many people in this thread accused posters of jumping to conclusions. Sure seems like John has done the same thing.
Hookerman April 14, 2014 at 05:39 pm
“…you'd have heard how the 'eye witness' was shown to be lying, as the other witnessesRead More testified totally opposite stories.” Which witness was lying? What exactly did he say that was a lie? How do you know it was not true? What did other witnesses say that was at odds with this testimony? How do you know which ‘story’ was true? Johnlv’s post is what is known as a ‘drive by’.
Beach Mover April 15, 2014 at 07:29 pm
@hook you nailed it drive by BS. Did a quick scan of past post all just non case information aboutRead More Mr Travis. Must be a very good friend just saying how great Mr Travis. Could all be true but does not excuse what the evidence shows happened.

I too wondered why we needed an extra $5000 for the police to do what they do every day. I trulyRead More would be interested in hearing the particulars of how that worked. Maybe then I would understand. I don't right now. I know we have crime in LV but compared to many municipalities it seems that we are relatively quiet here and I would think that would leave enough time for police to patrol. I especially would like to see someone on the stretch down Schooley's Mountain Road going past Camp Washington. People go way over the speed limit and I'm surprised we don't see more crashes at big turn.
LV Taxpayer April 8, 2014 at 07:07 am
I think the extra $5K goes toward overtime so the normal patrols aren't neglected. I also believeRead More they'd rather go after speeders, since a radar rap is harder to beat than "she was observed using a cell phone while driving...". Too much wiggle room for the accused.
Pam Fischer April 8, 2014 at 12:18 pm
The $5K (federal funds) is used to put overtime patrols on the road to address this pervasive andRead More dangerous problem. I'm glad they're out there and hope that the program sends a message to those determined to text or make/take calls that the only thing they should be doing when they're behind the wheel is driving.

I see the self-esteem police have taken over the Patch, just as they have taken over publicRead More education. This bank-robbing loser was put in the Morris County "Correctional Facility." We can't say "jail" any more? Bad for inmates' self-esteem? Just like in school where the standards are lowered so everyone gets on the honor roll and the national honor society, every athlete gets a trophy, and no one takes a "test." Now it's an "assessment." "Correctional facility"....what bu****it!!!

How about crimes against the environment and working people. How about the legal chicanery of theRead More Supreme Court; corporations are people? How about the crime of being above the law or changing the law to legalize misconduct and policy of criminal actions by our leaders? We are all becoming victims of an uncaring unjust system that puts individual rights of property and corporate greed above the people and the future of life here on Earth.
Geoff Cabral April 4, 2014 at 09:41 am
Isn't it about time that banks locate their cameras 6' off the floor and closer to the faces ofRead More their "customers"? I realize that we are all using funny money, so the Fed will just "print" more, but someone could get hurt or killed during these bank robberies. Also, if Patch would like us to try to ID these perps, couldn't they allow their page be zoomed-in by the viewer? /end rant
Jim Copeland April 4, 2014 at 01:06 pm

Hookerman March 30, 2014 at 09:26 am
Of course, if he stole money through insider trading, then you'd have multiple people chiming inRead More here saying: "oh, the poor guy just made a mistake.... let's give him a break.... he has a family... we need to support the people of our town". Yet, a blue collar criminal; "he should have gotten more time"!

ME March 31, 2014 at 02:07 pm
I agree throw away the key on this one, no one should ever sexually assault another person neverRead More mind a child The theft is minor compared to this other crime and he should have been put away when the assault happened, it makes me sick to think my tax dollars pay police, judges, and prosecutors to protect us from aggressive violent criminals and a person convicted of a sexual assault of a minor is ever allowed to be free.

willnj - ya I guess its far too much to ask for timely information from a state with a huge tax billRead More every year. NJ should absoluty be state of the art in everthying with as much money as they get. But instead all that money goes to the 100k pensions they all payout.
Wilnj March 31, 2014 at 02:42 am
@Madison - I so no graphics on that site that would given anywhere near the information thatRead More contained in the press releases. @John - While I agree with you, the pensions aren't going away so demanding more services is just going to add on to the tab, not replace something else.

Lousy reporting. No mention whatsoever as to how or why they've charged this guy.
FIMF the ll March 26, 2014 at 05:36 pm
From NBC news: Middlesex County prosecutors said Timothy Puskas, 38, is being charged with murderRead More for the death of William McCaw, a 22-year-old Kean University student who was found Feb. 15 outside a New Brunswick home. I am a volunteer firefighter in a wealthy Bergen county township, I have being volunteering for 5Read More years now and have training on the state and federal level. My town has a 100% volunteer fire department and a 100% ambulance corps. Each are very very dedicated, trained well, and are well respected throughout northern NJ for our services. However the biggest issue is man power during working times due to the fact we work jobs out of the area (I work at a hospital in central jersey). At any given time during the day you can have 2 guys show up to a call or 15, its hit or miss. Night time and weekends that's a different story because people are around. Same thing with our ambulance corps, they have a duty crew but if the duty crew is on a run when something else comes in during the day odds are another rig isn't getting out. Going 100% paid wont happen due to the fact that it would be too much money to pay to staff a fire truck and ambulance 24/7. However another option to look into is having a half paid half volunteer fire/ems department. You can have 2 FF/EMTS on a fire engine and a paid EMT driver on the ambulance during the day supplemented by volunteers. An example is if you have a Fire Alarm you already of a driver and FF on the Fire engine and now the first vollies come in you roll the truck 2-4 minutes faster due to the staffing at the fire house. Another example you now have an EMS ca,ll ambulance goes along with a fire engine with its FF/EMTS on it so now you have 3 EMTS on scene ( 2 from the fire truck 1 from the ambulance) and the vollies can also respond to help package and transport the patient. I feel that most of the state will never be paid but with the growing population in the state and the lack of volunteering in the emergency services I can see a half volunteer half paid happen. But this is just my opinion for my own town....Cheers

I'd like to see volunteer firefighters and first aid squads be required to get the training it takesRead More to be a professional while on call. I know of one first aid squad who make the ride to the hospital something like a "family affair", and believe me, if youre the patient lying in the back of that truck in pain....then all you need is a bunch of conversation between two teenage girls.
