Friends rallying around the family of Budd Lake native and Belvidere resident Chris Connors who was killed in a car accident on Route 46 in October.
Friends of Chris Connors, the Mt. Olive Native killed in a car accident on route 46 in October, are hoping to make the holidays a little brighter for his family by hosting a fundraiser Thursday night at 8 p.m. at the Corner Pub in Flanders. Connors left behind wife Michelle and children Michael, 12, Alexis, 11, Justin, 8, and Kayla, 7. This is not the first fundraiser organized for the Connors clan since the accident. Connors was known in life as someone loved by everyone, and his spirit of thoughfulness and putting others first sparked a grassroots efforts to give back to his family in their time of need. From Budd Lake to Belvidere folks are holding fundraisers for the family of Chris Connors, killed in a car accident last week.
Friends who knew him growing up in Budd Lake call him a "Laker for Life." And those in his new community in Belvidere call him one of their own. Now both communities are showing an outpouring of love and support for Chris Connors since his death in a car accident on route 46 last week. On Friday, Oct. 19 a baked goods sale is being held at Belvidere High School as part of the homecoming festivites. "Proceeds of the bake sale will be benefitting the Connors family," Melissa Altadonna Kramer, Chris Connors sister-in-law, said. Those who are interested in donating baked goods are asked to bring them by 6:30 p.m. to the field located at 809 Oxford Street Belvidere, NJ, 07823. Services for Chris Connors, the Belvidere man killed in a car accident on Thursday, to be at the Cochran Funeral home Monday.
Chris Connors was the "tough guy." The guy with the jean jacket with the Iron Maiden and Metallica patches sewn on. Hanging out with his best friend Brian Hager, Connors exuded the self confidence of a guy who didn't care what anybody thought. But beneath that tough exterior was the proverbial heart of gold. And on Thursday, a car accident in the town he was raised in claimed his life. "I've known him since the fourth grade," sister-in-law Melissa Altadonna Kramer said. "He was a tough, wild, free-spirited guy with a true genuine heart who would never intentionally hurt anyone."
