Boards, Committees Hold Court This Week

Three meetings in three nights for Washington Township residents.

It’s a major meeting week ahead in Washington Township, so let’s take a look at who’s doing what and when over the next few days. On Monday, the Washington Township Planning Board will meet for the first time since hearing a concept plan from Quick Chek, as the corporation intends to build a convenience store and gas station at the corner of Rt. 46 and Hearthstone Road. Quick Chek still has to get approval from the Highlands Council and a redevelopment approval from the township committee, but the process is underway. The planning board will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the municipal building and all residents are encouraged to attend. Also on Monday night is the first meeting of the West Morris Regional Board of Education meeting since it …

Check out what’s on top this week! You Need to Register for a 5K: The 7th Annual West Morris Central Track and Field Club’s Memorial 5K is set for Sunday, May 19, and registration is now open for the event. The first week of March is full of goings on, including bringing us one week closer to spring and Daylight Savings Time. Check out what’s going on around town. You Need a Major Meeting: The Washington Township Board of Education will present an in-depth look into the proposed full-day kindergarten program that could begin in September. The program is part of the tentative budget being created for the 2013-14 school year, and has been met with supporters and opponents. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5 at 6 p.m. at the Long Valley Middle School.
