15 Cars Burglarized in Long Valley Monday Morning

Police have no information on a potential thief; $986 in goods and money stolen.

Fifteen cars on four different roads were burglarized in the early morning hours Monday, Aug. 12, according to Washington Township Police, and no one has been named a suspect.

At approximately 2 a.m. Monday morning, an alleged burglar entered 15 different cars on North Washington Valley Road, East and West Mill Roads, and Middle Valley Road, Lt. Art Adams said.

Items taken included everything from loose change to hand tools and copper wire, Adams said. The total thefts added up to approximately $986, and all victims who made reports said their vehicles were unlocked that night, Adams said.

Nine cars were burglarized in July around the Flintlock Road area. That investigation is ongoing as well, and police did not say if the two incidents were related, but did not rule it out, either.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Cpl. Brian Bigham at 908-876-8318, and are reminding residents to be vigilant in reporting suspicious activity and to keep their cars and homes locked.
