Man Assaulted, Bloodied Victim at Long Valley Farm, Cops Say

Bloodied victim says brass knuckles were involved, police report.

A Landing man was jailed Sunday afternoon for assaulting a Long Valley resident on a farm, Washington Township police said.

Officer Daniel Parrish and Cpl. Dave Marut responded to Willow Grove Farm on West Mill Road just after 1 p.m. for a report of an assault with brass knuckles, Lt. Art Adams said.

When the officers arrived, they were met by Anthony Casternovia of Long Valley, who was bleeding from his head, Adams said. Casternovia told police that when he arrived at the farm, he was approached by Donald Vandevelde, 28, of Landing, an acquaintance of his, who hit him multiple times in the head with what he believed were brass knuckles, Adams said.
