National Children's Alliance Taps Local Man to Lead Board

Long Valley resident Henry Shiembob, a member of the National Children’s Alliance board of directors since 2008, has been elected to chair the group for 2013, according to a press release from the organization.

Shiembob has volunteered with the organization since 2005, and previously held the position of Treasurer for the board, the release said. He is one of seven new members to the organization’s board.

The Long Valley resident is also the deputy chief security officer and executive director of cyber security and fraud operation at Verizon.

“The (National Children’s Association) is an amazing organization dealing with unimaginable issues,” said Shiembob in a statement through Verizon.  “I think we all look for ways to engage and, for me, it’s being part of an organization that responds to and helps heal victims who aren’t able to speak for themselves – children.”

The National Children’s Alliance is an accrediting body for the more than 750 children’s advocacy centers serving each of the 50 states and District of Columbia.

“Henry’s experience in the corporate sector coupled with his dedication to the child advocacy movement have been welcome contributions to National Children’s Alliance since his joining our volunteer leadership in 2005. We are grateful to have him as our new Board President, and look forward to his leadership in 2013,” said Teresa Huizar, Executive Director of National Children’s Alliance in the press release.
