Garage Sale, Discount Card Fundraisers Benefit Project Graduation

Annual student-focused event created, organized by parents.

The annual Project Graduation event to keep newly-minted high school graduates safe and entertained on their first post-high school evening may not be until June, but the effort to fund the evening is now underway.

Project Graduation’s annual town-wide garage sale is set for Oct. 19 throughout Washington Township from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event enables families in town to hold a garage sale on their own property, and for $20 – benefiting Project Graduation – can be added to an official map that is made available online and distributed throughout town.

Participants are also given balloons to designate their homes along the garage sale route. Participants keep all proceeds from their sales.

Sign-ups for the community event end Oct. 11.

Also on Saturday, Oct. 19, Project Graduation will host its fall clothing drive. Student volunteers will be on hand in the gravel parking lot at West Morris Central High School to collect donations from residents. The following items are accepted:

  • Blankets
  • Drapes
  • Sheets
  • Plush toys

The Project Graduation committee is asking all objects be contained in tied plastic bags.

Another fundraiser that is currently ongoing to benefit Project Graduation is the sale of business discount cards. The card is filled with year-long discounts at a variety of local businesses from restaurants to bake shops and barber shops. The card comes with a flat cost of $10, proceeds benefiting Project Graduation.
