Down Trees Cut Power for 1,000 Homes Saturday

Power restoration expected by 9:30 p.m., mayor says.

More than 1,000 homes are without power Saturday night due to felled trees in Long Valley, according to Jersey Central Power & Light.

Crews from the utility company are en route to Washington Township to fix the problem, according to Mayor Ken Short, and restoration is expected by 9:30 p.m.

The areas most affected, Short said, are in the Califon, West Mill Road, and Old Farmers Road areas.

The utility company's power outage map showed 1,004 residences in Washington Township without power as of 7:45 p.m. Saturday.
