Week in Review: Highlands & History in Long Valley

Sports, meetings behind news-filled week.

The first full week of school has come to a close in Long Valley, and fall temperatures have officially settled in. The week was full of news and information, and we were there cover as much as possible. For a full slate of what happened, check this out. For our top headlines, keep reading.

The Washington Township Schools Board of Education held its first regular meeting of the school year this week, and discussed a potential bus facility to be used by the transportation department on municipal land. To see the progress being made on the topic, .

The Washington Township Committee also met this week for its work session, and was accompanied by the planning board as both bodies heard a presentation on the advantages and disadvantages to conforming to the Highlands Regional Master Plan. The governing body also approved new permanent field lights at Rock Spring Park that will be funded by the Long Valley Raiders Football Association. Members of the committee also expressed their displeasure with Jersey Central Power & Light and its work after Hurricane Irene. To read more, .

Finally, we went back in time at the Washington Township Historical Society Museum and took a tour of its current exhibit showcasing 19th and 20th century fashions. The exhibit is open to the public on Wednesday nights and Sunday afternoons through Oct. 2. To find out more, .
