Thousands Raised for Family of Long Valley Man Killed in Plane Crash

Nonprofit organization helps bring in funds for families of fallen Maryland police officers.

Residents in the Ocean City, Maryland area have spent the last few Fridays helping support their fallen officers, one of which hailed from Long Valley.

Joshua Adickes, an Ocean City police officer, died in a plane crash on June 30 along with one of his colleagues. Since that time, a foundation of motorcycle riders has raised thousands of dollars to support the families of the fallen, according to nj.com.

Patrons joined Hogs & Heroes on Friday nights in West Ocean City, Maryland at a Hooters restaurant and helped raise $6,172 to split between the grieving families, the report said.

Hogs & Heroes is a nonprofit organization that helps public service workers and military members. The group will present checks to the two families during September’s Ocean City Bike Fest, according to the report.

Adickes was recalled as a happy, fun-loving relative and student. He graduated West Morris Central High School in 2004.
