'Tromp' Stomps Cancer With $10K Fundraiser

Annual event was held Sunday.

The final Sunday of August was a beautiful one, not so much because of the weather, but because the community came together for a common cause.

Some 250 participants joined the 4th Annual Columbia Trail Tromp to raise funds and awareness for cancer research in honor of Bill Harrington Senior on Sunday.

All tolled, the fundraiser brought in approximately $10,000, according to event coordinator and daughter of Bill Harrington, Leona Harrington.

The funds will go directly to Dr. Gulati’s Advanced Research Foundation and fighting pancreatic cancer, Harrington said.

“Many thanks to all the volunteers who made it possible,” Harrington said, “especially Lt. Doug Compton, Sgt. Earl Barnes, the Long Valley First Aid Squad and Califon First Aid Squad.”
