Great Grandmother, Twp. Resident Dies at 88

Gloria Franzese lived locally for three years.

Gloria Franzese didn’t live in Washington Township for too long, but made the most of her time while she was here.

The 88-year-old died Sunday at Hackettstown Regional Medical Center, according to her obituary on cochranfuneral.com. Franzese lived in Washington Township for three years after moving here from Florida.

While living locally, the great grandmother worked at Carters Children’s Store and 7-Eleven in Budd Lake.

Born Aug. 27 1925, Franzese worked at a defense factory in her teen years during World War II.

She is survived by a daughter, four grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and was predeceased by a son.

A memorial mass will be held for Franzese on Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of the Assumption at 305 High Street in Hackettstown. The family has asked donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.
