Cops: Intoxicated Woman Kicks Officer in the Groin

Officers were helping her after she took a fall, police said.

A Long Valley woman kicked a Washington Township Police officer in the groin Monday, when police arrived to help her after she took a fall, police said.

Washington Township Police Officer Robert Probst, in conjunction with the Long Valley First Aid Squad, responded to a residence in town after a report of a woman who had fallen, Lt. Mark Niemynski said.

When Probst and first aid squad members arrived at the house, they located Karen Addeo, 36, who was intoxicated, Niemynski said. The notification to police was made by one of Addeo's family members, Niemynski said.

Addeo had hit her head during the fall, and the responders arranged for her to receive medical attention, Niemynski said. But as police were attempting to assist Addeo onto a stretcher, she allegedly became violent and kicked Probst in the groin.

Probst did not seek medical attention after the contact and was able to return to his regular work duties after the incident, Niemynski said.

Addeo then refused medical attention, police said. She was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, and was released pending a future court date.
