Cops: Teen Was Drunk When She Crashed Car

The following information was provided by the Washington Township Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Hackettstown teen was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after crashing into a car at the intersection of Routes 57 and 182, Hackettstown Police Det. Darren Tynan said.

The 17-year-old girl, whose name is being withheld due to her age, was traveling south on Rt. 182 Monday morning, when she attempted to make a right turn onto Rt. 57, and ended up striking Susan Scott of Port Murray, Tynan said.

Scott was waiting at the traffic light on Rt. 57 and was expecting to turn left on Rt. 182, Tynan said.

The force of the impact pushed Scott’s car into the one behind her, operated by Whitney Nalepa of Washington (Warren County), NJ, Tynan said.

The teen told police after the crash she had been drinking prior to the accident, Tynan said. She was taken to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center as a precaution, Tynan said.
