First Responders Recognized for Heroic Act

Two officers, first aid squad members attend EMS conference in Atlantic City.

Seven months after responding to a Long Valley , 10 of Washington Township's first responders were recognized for their heroics at the New Jersey Statewide Conference of Emergency Medical Services in Atlantic City on Nov. 4.

Washington Township Patrolman Adam Feichter, Sgt. Earl Barnes, Dispatcher James Smith, medics Pat Sheppard and Jim Moye, and Long Valley First Aid Squad members Leanne Ajbuzyc, Vin Dreeland, Bonnie Hooker, Claudette McElroy, and former Chief Hagan Sniffen responded to the call, which took place on April 11.

The first responders attended the ceremony and were finalists in their category for Outstanding EMS Call of the Year. They did not win, but were still recognized for their heroic acts.

The toddler, who at the time was 21 months old, is 100 percent healthy, according to Feichter.
