Man Had Pot and Pipe in Car, Police Say

The following arrest information was supplied by the Washington Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Great Meadows man was arrested on charges of possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop on East Avenue on Saturday, Washington Township Police Lt. Mark Niemynski said.

David Smith, 23, was stopped for not maintaining his lane by officer Michael Thompson, Niemynski said. When Thompson spoke with Smith, he smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, Niemynski said.

Thompson searched Smith’s car and found less than 50 grams of marijuana and a glass pipe used to smoke the drug, Niemynski said. Smith was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a vehicle.
