Pair Stole $30K Worth of Copper, Police Say

Hackettstown and Mansfield residents charged, more arrested expected as probe continues.

Two men were arrested for allegedly stealing tens of thousands of dollars worth of copper from a Long Valley business, Lt. Art Adams said.

Christopher Burk, 40, of Hackettstown, and Michael Fisher, 40, of Mansfield, were both charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft.

Members of the Washington Township Police Department made the arrest after an investigation revealed Burk and Fisher were allegedly entering the Thomas & Betts facility on Schooley’s Mountain Road in the overnight hours and stealing large amounts of cable, which contained copper, Adams said.
