UPDATE: Trade Center Brush Fires Under Control

Agencies from throughout Morris County assisting to quell blazes in Mt. Olive.

As of 3:40 p.m. Monday afternoon, numerous brush fires throughout the industrial complex of the International Trade Center in Mt. Olive had been knocked down, according to Mt. Olive Mayor Rob Greenbaum's Facebook page.

"The brush fire in the trade zone is now completely under control," Greenbaum said on his Facebook page.

"Those who may have gotten calls from Bright Horizons Day Care need not hurry to get your kids," the status update said. "All are safe and not in harms way. No need to panic at all. if you need help getting thru to get your children just ask a police officer who will make sure you can get thru to get your children."

Brush fires popped up all over the area, and could be seen from as far as Exit 30 off Route 80.

"Pretty major brush fire in terms of acreage," Greenbaum said in another post.

Agencies from Washington Township, Budd Lake, Chester, Randolph and other Morris County towns responded to the area. The entrance to the industrial complex from Rt. 46 was closed, and traffic was diverted in other areas.

Fires along the train tracks that run through the complex continued to reignite after initially being put out.

"We received multiple calls of brush fires along the train tracks spanning into multiple jurisdictions," said Mt. Olive Police Officer Michael Russell. "The fires in Mt. Olive are in the area of International Drive North. The trains have been stopped until further notice."

"I have been told that no structures are impacted," Greenbaum said on his Facebook page. "Please stay out of the area as cars are being detoured."

  • Stanhope Fire Department
  • Schooley's Mountain Fire Department
  • Mt. Arlington Fire Department
  • Randolph Fire Department
