Fire, First Aid Officers Vow to Serve Washington Twp. in 2014

Reorganization meeting swears in dozens of volunteers to township posts.

Officers from all three Washington Township fire companies, along with the Long Valley First Aid Squad and volunteers for boards and committees in town were sworn into their positions for the 2014 calendar year on Saturday.

A packed house of residents, volunteers and their families filled the Washington Township Municipal Building on Jan. 4 to see chiefs, deputies and line officers take their respective oaths of office.

More than 100 volunteers make up the three fire companies and first aid squad, with dozens more assigned to their spots on boards and committees in town. 

The Washington Township Fire Department consists of the Fairmount Fire Company, which swore in four officers; the Long Valley Fire Company, which swore in three officers; and the Schooley's Mountain Fire Company, which swore in four officers.

The Long Valley First Aid Squad swore in nine officers and administrators.

The Washington Township Committee also swore in two members and selected the mayor and vice mayor for 2014. For more on the reorganization meeting, go here.
