Washington Twp. to Receive $720K For Schooley's Mountain Bypass Project

Christie Administration OKs $3.5 billion for road projects in New Jersey.

The Christie Administration announced today the advancement of eleven Morris County road projects, one of which is the Long Valley Safety Project, according to a press release from New Jersey Department of Transportation.

The project, set to receive $720,000 in funding from the $3.5 billion FY 12 Transportation Capital Program, will essentially create a bypass for the southern portion of Schooley’s Mountain Road, according to the NJDOT’s web site.

Construction will be for two miles of roadway, beginning at the intersection of Schooley’s Mountain and Camp Washington Roads, including a bridge to span the South Branch of the Raritan River. The bridge will lead into East Mill Road/CR 513, approximately 1,300 feet east of the intersection of Fairmount Road.

When the Long Valley Safety Project will begin is yet to be determined.
