Sandy Forces Washington Twp. Schools to Close

Washington Township's K-8 school district and West Morris Central High School have cancelled all classes and extracurricular activities for Monday, Oct. 29 as Hurricane Sandy churns up the East Coast. 

The announcement was made on both districts' websites Sunday afternoon and sent out to residents via Honeywell alert. 

Meteorologists are saying the storm will begin impacting northern New Jersey Sunday night into Monday morning when torrential downpours and heavy winds will pick up as the day moves forward.

The storm is expected to be long-lasting and hover over the tri-state area through Tuesday.
