Twp. Schools Closed For Second Full Week

Announcement made to stay shut for Friday.

As residents continue to be without power 10 days after Hurricane Sandy swept through the area, so do three of the township's four elementary schools, meaning no class will be held Friday, Nov. 9.

Through the Honeywell instant alert system and Washington Township Schools website, the announcement was made by Superintendent Jeff Mohre to complete the second full week of school without a bell schedule. 

"Following consultation with Washington Township Police, we regret having to report that little has changed here in the Township," the website reads. "As a result, school will remain CLOSED, Friday, November 9th."

At the start of the school year, the calendar showed there would be no classes Thursday and Friday, Nov. 8 and 9 because of the New Jersey Education Association's annual conference in Atlantic City.
