After a setback against Chatham the week prior, both the West Morris Central girls and boys teams came out ahead in their meet against Pequannock High School. The girls team won by quite a large margin while the boys barely glided by their opponent. At the end of the day, a win is still a win!
The girls controlled the meet by winning all three relay races with Ungemach (SR)/Shannon (SR)/McKenna (SO)/Crowley (FR) swimming the 200 yard Medley, Kowalewski (FR)/Shannon (SR)/Lamperti (SR)/Castaneda (FR) taking the 200 yard Free, and Kowalewski (FR)/Ungemach (SR)/Crowley (FR)/Castadena (FR) completing the 400 yard Free.
The girls also performed admirably in the individual races, starting with Freshman Kowalewski strongly finishing first in the 200 yard Free. She also took second in the 500 yard Free. Finishing in third in the 500 yard Free was Freshman Liahkim. Senior S. Beatrice took third place in the 200 yard Free. Freshman Castaneda was first in the 200 yard IM and 100 yard Free improving her time in the Free event by over 3 seconds.

Senior Shannon took third in the 200 yard IM and moved up to second in the 100 yard Breast. Freshman Crowley won the 50 yard Free by almost two seconds and placed second in the 100 yard Back.
Senior Lamperti finished second in both the 50 and 100 yard Free. Sophomore McKenna and Freshman Circelli were second and third, respectively in the 100 yard Fly. And last to be mentioned but first to finish in the 100 yard back was Senior Ungemach. The final scores were Pequannock 56 to Central 113.

The boys, while taking two of the relay races, consistently found themselves falling behind. Ambrose (FR)/Donnelly (JR)/M. Schommer (JR)/A. Vinh (JR) won the 200 yard Free relay effortlessly and Antonucci (JR)/Holm (SR)/Schommer (JR)/A. Vinh (JR) rounded out the meet with the 400 yard Free relay.
Sparing the team from a complete shut-out in the individual races, Junior A. Vinh took first in the 50 yard and 100 yard Free. However, WMC having a greater depth consistently earned second and third place finishes to keep the score differential within reach. Junior Schommer took second in both the 200 yard Free and 100 yard Fly earning a new best time in the Fly event.
Senior Tamburrino took third in the 200 yard Free and new personal best time. Freshman Ambrose finished second in the 200 yard IM as well as the 500 yard Free. He, too, swam to a new best time shaving off almost 8 seconds in the 500 yard Free.
Senior Holm placed third in both 200 yard IM and 100 yard Fly. Junior Antonucci came in second in the 100 yard Back with a new best time. He also took third place in the 50 yard Free, also with a new best time for the event. Junior Donnelly finished second in the 100 yard Breast and third in the 100 yard Free. Senior Farnsworth convincingly claimed the third spot in the 100 yard Breast.
The boys were trailing Pequannock by 4 points going into the last event, the 400 yard Free relay. And with the “A” team of Antonucci (JR)/Holm (SR)/Schommer (JR)/A. Vinh (JR) came in first to tie up the scores, it was up to the “B” team to save the day. And glided through in style (more like in time) was the team of Dlouhy (JR)/McLoughlin (FR)/Bracero (SR)/Stahlhut (SO). Their third place finish propelled WMC into the winning column. The final scores were Pequannock 84 to Central 86.
