WMC Girls Make Big Splash Against Madison

Swim team picks up first victory of the season.

The Girls' Swim Team had its first victory of the season, beating Madison 89-81, on Dec. 10.

The girls won eight of the eleven races. Leading the scoring with two individual wins each were senior Katie Papa (50 Free, 100 Back) and junior Molly Shannon
(200 IM, 100 Breast).

Other individual winners were Ellysa Lamperti (100 Free), and Paige Stricker (500 Free). The 200 Medley Relay (Shannon, Papa, Lamperti, Stricker), and the 200 Free Relay (Ungemach, Lamperti, Papa, Shannon) also placed first.

Second place performances were put in by junior Violet Ungemach (200 IM, 100 Fly), Paige Stricker (200 Free), and Rachel Schmitt (500 Free).

Valuable points were added by Olivia Latran (50 Free, 200 Free), Sabrina Belen (100 Breast), Sam Beatrice (100 Free), Lindsey Hoffmann (100 Fly * Best Time), and freshman Cassandra McKenna (100 Back) helping to push West Morris past Madison.

The Girls are now 1-1 for the season, and will be back in the water on Tuesday, Dec. 20 against a strong Chatham team.
