Monster Football Matchup, Junior Women's Craft Show This Weekend

Iconic ice cream shop in Chester reopens Saturday.

This weekend has the potential to be one of the most entertaining we’ve seen in a long time, and it includes ice cream!

Kicking off Friday night at 7 p.m. is a gridiron battle for the ages, as Mendham High School will head to West Morris Central in the NJSIAA North 2, Group 4 semifinal game.

The winner of the game gets a shot at the championship on Saturday, Dec. 7. The Minutemen played in just one playoff game last year, while the Wolfpack won this section’s championship in 2012 against Passaic Valley.

Taylor’s Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street in Chester, which has been closed since March because of a fire in the building, will hold its grand reopening at noon on Saturday at the store.

It’s been a long road back to the business for owners Ron and Margaret Klein, but one they’re excited to reach the end of. Chester Borough Mayor Bob Davis will be on hand for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and the store will be giving 20-percent of its net profits from the weekend to the Chester Volunteer Fire Department and Chester Food Pantry.

Have a great weekend, Washington Township!
