Matthew Barther and his brother, Patrick, collided in the Barnegat Bay last weekend while reading jet skis, according to police. Matthew was rushed to the hospital after the crash but pronounced dead later in the evening. He was 24.
A strange occurrence at Willow Grove Farm marred a sunny afternoon recently, when one man allegedly assaulted a Long Valley resident, leaving him bloodied. The assailant turned himself in, police said.
Unlocked cars on East and West Mill Roads, North Washington Valley Road, and Middley Valley Road were all entered and had money or goods taken in the middle of the night, Washington Township police reported. There is currently no suspect.
Despite an unprecedented special primary election to find party winners to fill a U.S. Senate seat, voters in Washington Township weren’t that excited to punch ballots this week. Overall, just 8-percent of registered voters in the township hit the polls this week.
Despite many years in the making to finalize a solar field that would service the Long Valley Middle School, the county and contractor working on the project have hit an impasse and the installation of the alternative energy source is now delayed indefinitely.
